Here are some home made instruments and devices.





Breathalyzer Pipes (2013)

Are to be played as a pair.

Open ended aluminum pipes that produces pitched noise.

The instrument was created for the piece ‘Breathalyzer’.










Pulled Pork (2013)

Double action air pump connected to a deer grunter connected to a ballon.

It makes different animal type sounds depending on airflow and pressure.

The instrument was first used in the piece ‘Pulled Pork’.









Loudspeaker Suit (2012)

A portable personal playback system for live performance and spacialization. A battery powered amplifier is carried in a pouch on the chest and loudspeakers are strapped to the shoulders

The suit was first used in the piece ‘Mystery Mix Tape





Krumphorn (2011)

140 mm PVC tube with a flex tube attached to one end. The instrument is still undergoing development and was first featured in the piece ‘Gouda’.



The Pipe (2011)

A two part steel pipe mounted on a stand at a slight angle. It has a 90° bend with a funnel on one end of the pipe and the other end is placed over a bucket that contains a secret content. The instrument is played by dropping glass balls into the raised end. It was created for the piece ‘Amsterdam’.




The Electric Messenger (2011)

A modified electric massager with lights that can be controlled from an Arduino board. It was created for the piece ‘Amsterdam’ as a tactile notation device.






LED Notation System For The Harp (2010)

A series of Arduino controlled adjustable LED lights mounted on a rail. This rail is placed on the soundboard of the harp and the LEDs are adjusted so they are in front of selected strings. The lights can be individually turned on and off by software. The system was developed for the piece ‘Það kemur í ljós’.





The LED Sticks (2010)

LEDs mounted at the end of wooden sticks for use in dynamic visual notation. Has been used in ‘Það kemur í ljós’ and ‘Flipp A’.





The Helmet (2010)

Plastic viking helmet with old baby rattles mounted on the horns. It works by shaking the head. The Helmet was created for the piece ‘Það kemur í ljós’.



The Sheep (2010)

A three person acoustic instrument. At one end is the ‘head’ that controls a rotating percussion device inside the sheep. In the middle is a plastic tube for blowing a small membranophone. At the end is a string for bowing inside through a hole in the sheep. It was created for the piece ‘Flipp B’.



Icelandic Bottle Cap Contact Mics (2010)

Piezo disc wired with a 1/4” female jack connector and mounted inside an icelandic bottle cap. Some different variations: Malt, Appelsín and more.
